These days I sing and play at various places, bars, open mics, etc. During the summer months I'm outdoors performing in Harvard Sq. with Kevin O'Neil and Shawn Deirdre [aka PockerBuskers]. Been at that since 2011 - fun!
Before that, I did the 3-piece rock band thing...first as "11th Commandment" with the venerable Dan Burns...then as "The Leon Rich Band". Played some Boston clubs = fun! Jammed with some good musicans, recorded some recordings = more fun!
And before that it was busking in the MBTA! Right around then I began my open mic experiences at THE Kendall Cafe - what a crew!
I also record, produce and mix music. I use Reaper for that. A few years back I went to a recording intensive in LA with Chris Ronan Murphy, an eye opener! I like Neumann monitors and their headphones as well. RME for the audio interface and converters. Mics? Gimme a U87 or some type of 47 for vocals. I do like the Shure sm81 or the Neumann KM140 on acoustics. The SM57 can be used anywhere, and I like the Tab Mod SM57 on vocals, alot.
I started out in Drum Corps [DCI!], with the 27th Lancers playing trumpet [technically a G bugle aka Soprano]. The 27th Lancers == All pro, All the time, All the way! Learned a LOT there, GREAT instructors and staff! After that, I got a chance to teach brass with the Malden Diplomats. More Great musicians, and I learned A LOT there.
